Arthur Firstenberg författare till artikeln från 2004 i The Ecologist, var nästan färdigutbildad läkare när han blev sjuk av elektromagnetiska fält på 80-talet. Han började studera forskning på området och fann bland annat resultat från östeuropeisk froskning som utförligt beskrev en sjukdom som uppstod av exponering för radiofrekventa fält, vilka används i mobiltelefoni.
